Casting Call… Women who inspire us.
Over the next couple of months I am reviving and continuing a personal photography project which looks at women in my local community who inspire others. Who is it that rocks your world? Who is that is always there for you? Who is that challenges you? Who is it that makes you think? Nominate them for this portrait project.
After meeting and photographing women who are doing something a little different in our community in the past I have been inspired to continue this personal project. The aim is to photograph women who support, challenge and inspire others. It might be that they are involved in a local project or charity work, it may be that they face challenges in their life with real determination, they might be your friend, sister, mother, grandmother, daughter… whoever they are, you think they are pretty amazing.
I am asking you to nominate someone (please check they would be willing to take part). So far I have photographed 20 women, my aim is to get to 50!
Absolutely everyone is welcome to apply. This aims to be an inclusive project representing women from all parts of our community. As I am working towards this I encourage nominations from different groups including but not limited to: different age groups, socio-economic backgrounds, ethnic groups, people living with a disability. I just ask that the people identify as a woman she/her.
The portrait sessions will take up to an hour and be at a location which is meaningful to the subject, my aim is to create environmental portraits. This is a personal project and as a thank you for taking part in the project the nominee will receive a digital copy of the photograph.
The photographs will feature online on my social media and website as a celebration of women in my community so your nominee needs to be comfortable with that.
At the moment I will be running the project in my local area which includes Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Leighton Buzzard, Tring and surrounding areas. Please note that depending on the interest in this project I may not be able to photograph everyone who applies. I will let you know by email within two weeks.
