30 days of photographs: My September Photo Challenge

This September I took part in a photo challenge run by the fabulous Stephanie Belton It was the perfect opportunity to challenge myself, try those things I'd always wanted to have a go at (double exposure anyone?!), and to really fall in love with photography again. Stephanie sets a theme for each day and in the Stephanie Belton Training Facebook group we share our daily images. The only rule is you have to take a photograph each day and so you can't pull one out from three years ago! It is pretty hard to be really creative everyday and you would never complete the challenge if you were aiming for the 'perfect' photograph each day. It is about taking part, trying to be a bit creative and talking to others about their ideas. One of the things I have managed to do is get in the frame myself a few times. As the family photographer I am not often in the frame myself so had to make sure that I got in a few times!

So here are my images...

Garden delights...{Buckinghamshire photographer}

Swan Cottage is a complete delight. From the moment you see the gorgeous thatched cottage you know you are going to be in for a treat. The garden is a treasure trove of beautiful home grown British seasonal flowers. Every flower bed is full of plants and the swathe of colour is gorgeous. At this time of year it is the dahlias which take over the carefully planned beds. Who knew there were so many different varieties?! Each one chosen by care for it's particular qualities so that they are in perfect condition for clients who are looking for beautiful seasonal flowers. Zoe is bursting with knowledge about the plants in her garden and it was a pleasure to walk around the garden with her. You can find out more at Swan Cottage and don't forget to take a look at Zoe's Dahlia Hall of Fame.

Taking time to stop and photograph the flowers...

Lately I've been really thinking about what it is that I love to photograph. As a photographer, what we enjoy photographing is bound to change from time to time as we have new ideas and try new things. The thing that has always got me is flowers, plants, trees; nature in whatever form it takes out there on my doorstep. I think it is because I love to see the changes every year in the spot we live in, in the Buckinghamshire countryside. So I am going to make more of an effort to take some time and photograph what is going on around me. Starting with these beauties aka Pignut. Who knew?!
